Meditation is always an interesting subject. People either love it, have a hard time with it or have no interest in it.
Yet, as of 2019, meditation is practiced by approximately 18 million adults just in the United States alone. While meditation was originally based on religious and spiritual philosophies, today meditation methods and styles have evolved as popular and effective means to reduce stress, lessen anxiety and promote a state of calm and well-being.
Harvard researcher Sara Lazar found that 40- to 50-year-old meditators have key structures similar to those of non-meditators in their 20s. Meditation seems to slow the natural reduction of brain tissue that comes with aging and improve cognition and memory.
