How to Summer-ize Your Skin

When we dream about our skin in summer, we usually envision it being tanned, smooth and glowing……but the reality can be a lot different as you tackle sweat, sunburn, clogged pores, redness, dryness and premature aging due to the sunny summer conditions. In a panic, you might think you need to completely change your skincare but the reality is that you just need to have a set routine that is more geared to the summer conditions and, of course, stick to that routine.

Here are some ideas for a well-nourished, glowing, smooth summer skin:

  1. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate: we couldn’t stress this more. Gentle moisturizing face scrub/exfoliator is a life saver in the summer. We sweat a lot more therefore our pores get clogged very fast…..AND at the same time — the sun dries out our skin so have a lot of dry flaky skin that needs to be exfoliates. We recommend exfoliating your face in the shower every other day. Be gentle with it but consistency is key.
  2. Double Cleanse is something that many estheticians used to do. But it is now gaining a momentum and rightfully so. We believe that double cleansing is crucial in the summer. Your first cleanse removes dirt, makeup and sunscreen. Your second cleanse will give you a deeper cleanse and healing ingredients’ penetration. It will hydrate and smooth the skin.
  3. Antioxidants: Vitamin C — an absolute mandatory ingredient for the summer is a high-grade antioxidant product — in the form of a Vitamin C serum. It has incredible photoprotection from the sun and any oxidative stress, such as pollution, etc…
  4. Sunscreen: By now everyone knows the absolute importance of sunscreen…..yet…..we all still manage to get burned one way or the other. It is so crucial to find a clean and effective sunscreen and actually use it! Re-apply it every 2-3 hours. Your skin will definitely thank you for it…….
